Before you travel:
- A visa is required which is
arranged by the company. Resident
Visa must be renewed annually and an
exit/reentry visa is required for
each trip overseas.
- All expats are paid a monthly
town allowance in local currency. As
all accommodation and bills are paid
for, this is generally sufficient.
However, depending on the lifestyle
it is advisable to bring some
foreign currency in the region of
1,000 Euros.
- Cars are readily available at
reasonable prices. Hence, it is not
necessary to import a car and fuel,
as expected, is very cheap.
- Restaurants and shopping malls
can be found in abundance. Some
places, mainly major hotels, accept
a Visa card.
- Medicines are readily available
as well as there being a resident
company doctor.
- Alcohol is prohibited.
- There are many interesting
places to visit such as the Roman
ruins, National Museum, Red castle
overlooking the old city and
Tripoli’s grand mosque.
Field Assigned Employees:

house close to the company whilst in
transit to their desert camp.
- Company transport is provided
from the guest house to the airport.
- Flight time from Tripoli is
approx 2 hrs via the company plane
(Dash 8) and 1 hr via jet. Twin
Otters are used to ferry employees
between fields and average flight
time for this is 40mins.
- All facilities are provided in
the fields including accommodation,
satellite TV, all meals, laundry and
most sports activities. Hence, there
is no need for foreign currency.
- Unless there are special dietary
requirements, there is no need to
bring any food.
